GM Named President of National Governing Board

Jill Philmon will serve as President of Club Managers Association of America


CHARLOTTE, NC - Jill R. Philmon, CCM (Certified Club Manager), CCE (Certified Club Executive), General Manager and Chief Operating Officer of Ballantyne Country Club in Charlotte, NC, was elected President of the Club Managers Association of America (CMAA) Board of Directors at its 89th World Conference and Club Business Expo, held in San Diego, CA in February.

Philmon has been serving as the General Manager and Chief Operating Officer of the Ballantyne Country Club since 2010. During her tenure, the club was awarded the distinguished Gold Club of the World award, as determined by the annual Distinguished Clubs of the World award program conducted by BoardRoom magazine, one of the most respected trade publications serving private clubs. Previously, she managed Columbia Country Club in Blythewood, SC; Catawba Country Club in Newton, NC; and Grandover Resort and Golf Club in Greensboro, NC.

She joined CMAA in 1993 and has served on many national committees, including as the Premier Club Services Co-Chairman, the Career Services Committee, the Chapter/Member Services Committee and The Club Foundation Strategic Planning Committee, among others as well as a number of At-Conference Committees. Philmon first joined the Board of Directors in 2009.

In 2008, Philmon was the recipient of the prestigious Carolinas Chapter Club Manager of the Year. She is in the mentoring program with the University of South Carolina and has served on the School of Hospitality and Tourism Advisory Board at Western Carolina University.

Philmon has also served her local community, working as a Member of the Charlotte Chamber of Commerce; Charter Member Greater Blythewood Chamber of Commerce; Blythewood Business Coalition; 2008 Scholarship Committee, Carolinas Club Foundation Founder’s Club; American Heart Association Logistics Chairman for Annual Heart Ball; Executive Women International; and received an Award of Excellence from the Charlotte City Club.

The CMAA Board of Directors is comprised of 13 club management professionals who are passionate about the long-term vision of CMAA, and work respectfully with staff, committees, members, partners and the greater industry to advance the profession of club management.
