Club Management is actually a third career for Jill R. Philmon, CCM, CCE. She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, majoring in Business Administration. Her first job, during and after college, was an Assistant Controller at a hospital in Charlotte, NC. She owned and operated Party Pros, a consulting firm that designed and planned special events. After selling the company, she accepted the position of Special Events Director for the Charlotte City Club, eventually being promoted to Assistant Manager. Mrs. Philmon is credited with opening the prestigious four-star resort, Grandover Golf and Spa in Greensboro, NC. She eventually returned to her passion, club management, and has also returned to her hometown when accepting the GM/COO position here at Ballantyne Country Club in June of 2010. Jill is very active and dedicated to Club Managers Association of America, serving as President of CMAA and on many National Committees and At Conference Committees. Jill volunteered for the National Club Championship four of the five years it was held and was volunteer chairman for two of those years. She served on the planning committee for the 2000 National Assistant Manager’s Conference and was a Co-Chair for the 2008 National Education Student Conference. Locally she has served all chairs of the Board of Directors for the Carolinas Chapter, through Past President and also served a two year term as a Director for the Carolinas Club Foundation. In 2008 Jill was the recipient of the prestigious Carolinas Chapter Club Manager of the Year. She is in the mentoring program with the University of South Carolina and has served on the School of Hospitality and Tourism Advisory Board at Western Carolina University. She is often a guest speaker at those universities as well as Johnson & Wales University in Charlotte Jill resides in Newton, North Carolina with her husband Tony. When she is not working she enjoys spending time at her beach house with family and friends, cooking and drinking great wines.
